Originally, a term masterpiece (or even ''chef five hundred'work'') referred to the piece of handicraft art produced by a journeyman aspiring to become a master craftsman in the old European guild system, which is partially maintained around todays world just in Germany. These were (or even come) often hone pieces of handicraft art, admired for their beauty & elegance.
Today this term mostly refers to any act of art that is considered inordinately easily-performed.
